Mona, a queer Syrian artist residing in Montreal, possesses a Fine Arts degree specializing in oil painting from Syria. Besides her artistic endeavors, Mona is engaged as a multilingual singer in diverse bands. Additionally, she brings more than six years of experience in teaching Arabic as both an instructor and conversational partner, while also leading cultural exchange sessions. She harbors a strong passion for cultivating bonds through music and is enthusiastic about organizing language through music workshops, providing participants with opportunities to deeply engage in both language and melody.

Lingala through Music

Saturday 20 April, 12pm BST with Michael from Litéya ya Lingála

Michael and I met years ago when we collaborated on workshops for BOZAR Afropolitan festival. Lingála is a Bantu languages spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Gabon, southern Cameroon, Kenya and South Sudan It is spoken by more than 100 million people. Lingála also rules the most amazing music!
