Teacher Training
“I've been interested in culture forever, and after writing a blog about it for the last five years, I decided to formalize my experience by following a training to become a CD-certified intercultural trainer. I had met Desta not long before, and her energy, experience, and the many cultural activities she was leading made it an easy decision to sign up for the course she was launching.
In four 2-hour group sessions, she guided us through the frameworks, cultural leaders, her personal experience, and also how to give the training and promote ourselves. What I appreciated most was her full transparency around pricing, materials, and frameworks. This openness, combined with her eagerness to help her students thrive and create win-wins, is very rare. You’re unlikely to find a training that’s so fun and packed with real insights. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering becoming an intercultural trainer. Desta rocks!”

“Desta is an outstanding teacher who has lived and worked in many parts of the world. She is fluent in multiple languages, and well-traveled. Understanding how to navigate cultural landscapes with empathy and confidence is at the core of her being and her work.
Already after a few sessions with her, I feel like she has given me the tools and insight I need to help organizations and brands build a strong foundation of cultural competency and understanding.”

The same year I launched Languages through Music, I also began freelancing as an intercultural trainer—finally! I’d earned my certification in intercultural training years earlier, but it took time (and patience!) to land my first opportunity with a relocation company.
It turned out to be a dream gig. Like Languages through Music, it’s all about culture, communication, and connection. I get to meet incredible people from around the world, practice my languages, and help them feel more at home—wherever they’re moving to or living now. That’s why I included a section on it in the LTM Masterclass—because it’s all deeply connected.
Over the past decade, I’ve delivered 100+ sessions for employees, families, kids, and global companies like American Express, HSBC, Jaguar Land Rover, and Kenvue. It is really rewarding, fun, and the best-paid freelance work I have ever had, a job I know so many others who would be great at, but just haven’t had the opportunity to learn about or develop their confidence in it.
I’ve won two Platinum awards from Sirva (formerly Brookfield Global Relocation Services), nominated for another. I’ve also been commissioned to update all their learning manuals for Youth and Teen Intercultural sessions. I’ve been to over 90 countries, which I get to feed into the sessions I design.
Lately, more people have been reaching out asking how they can get into this line of work. So I’ve created something special, that also carries internationally-recognised CPD accreditation (all you need to start your own career as a trainer!). If you love culture and travel, getting certified could be an excellent move for you.
